Have you ever done a 30 day challenge before? I’ve always wanted to. Committing to something, showing up for yourself and following through to the end are all muscles I want to strengthen. Motherhood can definitely detract from your ability to do those things, it gets harder when you are taking care of someone other than yourself. But the great thing about this kind of challenge is it’s a short time frame, you choose ONE thing and it’s really confidence building.
I will forever refer to James Clear’s Atomic Habits because it’s such an incredible book. I think it’s important to keep your change simple and focus on tiny gains. For instance, I’m not also going to start a new exercise routine an hour a day or reinvent my diet at the same time. Because I’m choosing no t.v. as my challenge I am going to replace the time I would have watched t.v. with something else. Like sleep, crafting, writing, time with my husband or self care. But I’m not going to make it a hard change. I’m going to reserve my focus for being successful at my 30 day challenge.
Interested? Here are some ideas for what you could do. Or you could join me from June 1-30th in The No T.V. Challenge #notvchallenge2021 on my Instagram
Ideas for a 30 Day Challenge
What is one area in your life you would like to improve? It could be health or risk taking or feeling happier. Take some time to think about it, write in a journal using the above question as a prompt – what comes up? You can jump on Pinterest for some great ideas, I made a board, or come up with your own. Whatever you choose, remember start small or keep it simple. If you make the change too massive it will be hard to sustain. Just Google 30 day burpee challenge!
