I can remember when I started this account how scared I was of being seen. And years into what I’ve created I’ve combated many different fears.

At first I tried to ‘conquer’ them, push past them. But that never worked.

Then I tried to work thought them, understand them. And although I learned a lot, it still wasn’t the answer.

Not until I EMBRACED them, kept them alongside me and listened to them, was I able to really shift things.

Because letting go is scary. Doing things differently, showing up as yourself and choosing to change are all hard.

Hard because the people who know you already might judge you.

Hard because you might outgrow places and spaces you’re comfortable with.

And hard because it might change your relationships.

But you can’t stay the same to please others or because you’re scared. That little voice that wants something different is there to show you it’s okay to be scared. Fear is a part of life, don’t push it away.

Give it a hug and then learn to accept it and everything will change. The clutter, the money, the relationships, the boundaries, the busyness, your health.

You can do fear, it won’t kill you, though it seems like it will. What will is not being you 💕

This is the number one skill to develop if you want to simplify, find more ease and enjoy life. Because let’s be honest, it is not always a walk in the park.

But I have found over and over, despite the challenges I’ve experienced, that being present and being grateful have allowed me to find enjoyment, no matter what.

Sitting by my mom’s bedside in the hospital, just taking a deep breath and tuning in to the moment allowed me to recognize the gift of being there. Noticing what WAS available to me; a great tea latte, a friend in town supporting me, a pretty comfortable place to sleep at the hospital.

There are always gifts, there is always goodness but we can get really caught up in wanting what’s next.

WHEN I get…then I’ll be happy.

I just have to wait until…then thing will be better

The problem is when you can’t find the enjoyment is life as it is, how do you think you’ll find it when you get THERE? The truth is you won’t.

If you aren’t present now, you won’t be present then. And if you aren’t present, you can’t actually enjoy any of it.

So set your goals + dreams, chase them - absolutely. BUT practice being present, noticing and appreciating NOW.

The good news is happiness is an inside job so you get to take it with you.

It’s SO easy to put off taking that step we’re itching to take.

Shove it to the sidelines and pick up the to-do list, get busy and forget about it for a while. But the scary truth is, we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow.

We can let time slip by settling and being just okay with the day to day. In fact, it’s really difficult to even recognize when life is a bit lackluster because it’s just what we’re used to.

We get used to the clutter, the stuff gathering dust around us, think someday we’ll do that project and then never do.

But what if you zoomed out, imagined things as if. As if you never do the thing, as if you do. What if you get to the end and don’t?

These are big questions to ask and although it might seem drastic when thinking about clutter but it is serious. This is your one life. Do you want to spend it tidying up?

The holidays are coming! And that can mean a lot m

The holidays are coming! And that can mean a lot more toys coming into your home.

Which is why decluttering toys NOW will make the holidays feel less crazy and less overstimulating. We can also talk clutter free gifts, but that is a whole other post.

1️⃣ First, go through your children’s toys and put everything that they’ve outgrown, is broken or hasn’t been touched in AGES in a box. Yout can make some decisions on your own.

2️⃣ Next, loop your kids in. Tell them you’re going to make space for new things, make some decisions about what they no longer love and work together to make their space easy and fun to play in. Keep it to about 15 minutes at a time so it stays positive and doesn’t become arduous.

3️⃣ Another really effective approach is to talk about where their old toys will go. Whether it’s a younger neighbour, your local daycare or school or a charity. Knowing their toys will get played with by other kids and maybe those who wouldn’t receive them otherwise, can be really motivating for kids. They love to share and know they are making other kids happy!

4️⃣ Creating a rotation, not a big complicated system, but something simple. Like one bin where you can swap things around, frees up space. It means the play space is less cluttered, there is more room to be creative and they can actually play with everything rather than feeling overwhelmed by quantity.

5️⃣ And lastly, set boundaries. You actually get to say what is too much and it’s your job. Kids would endlessly keep things for the most part and don’t necessarily make the connection to what is too much, so you have to teach them. Although it can feel hard, setting boundaries is important for your kids to experience and then learn from.
